CALL FOR NOMINATIONS AIA OVR REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE TO THE AIA STRATEGIC COUNCIL, REGIONAL ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, AND YOUNG ARCHITECTS REGIONAL DIRECTOR


The AIA Ohio Valley Regional Assembly is soliciting nominations for three positions to represent the AIA Ohio Valley Region.

 

1. Representative to the AIA Strategic Council, to replace Drew White, FAIA. Any AIA Ohio Valley Region component may nominate a candidate. Individual declarations of candidacy may be made as well. The individual elected will begin a three-year term in December 2017, and serve until December 2020. Nominations and declarations of candidacy should be made by sending a letter of intent from the candidate with supporting letters (not required…no more than three) and a list of qualifications to the AIA Ohio Valley Region, by February 21, 2017.

AIA Strategic Council members are responsible for establishing the vision and long term goals of the Institute. The AIA Strategic Council serves an advisory role to the AIA National Board, but is not involved in governance. Nominations or declarations will be forwarded to the AIA Ohio Valley Region Assembly Delegates for an election scheduled for April 21, 2017 in Indianapolis, IN. Candidates should plan to be available to attend this Ohio Valley Region Assembly meeting in order to be interviewed by the Assembly. Each candidate will have five minutes to present their qualifications, prior to a question and answer period by the OVR Assembly.

Please note, Drew White, FAIA, holds the position of the Second Representative to the Regional Council (see excerpt from the OVR bylaws, below).

Section 5. Election of Regional Director
The Regional Council shall call for the nomination of and shall elect the Regional Director(s) by vote of a simple majority of the Delegates present. The first Director from the Ohio Valley Region, shall be elected to serve a three-year term, and shall be perpetually succeeded by a director elected from the eligible membership of a Component in Ohio. The second Director shall serve an initial two-year term and shall be perpetually succeeded by a director elected from the eligible membership of Ohio, Indiana or Kentucky.


2. Regional Associate Director (RAD), to replace Craig Chamberlain, Assoc. AIA. Any component from the AIA Ohio Valley Region may nominate a candidate. Individual declarations of candidacy may be made as well. The individual elected will begin a two-year term on Jan. 1, 2018, and serve through Dec. 31, 2019. Nominations and declarations of candidacy should be made by sending a letter of intent from the candidate, supporting letters (not required…no more than three) and a list of qualifications to the AIA Ohio Valley Region, by February 21, 2017.

3. Young Architect Regional Director (YARD), to replace Chris Gerrity, AIA. Any component from the AIA Ohio Valley Region may nominate a candidate. Individual declarations of candidacy may be made as well. The individual elected will begin a two-year term immediately upon election and will serve through Dec. 31, 2018. Nominations and declarations of candidacy should be made by sending a letter of intent from the candidate, supporting letters (not required…no more than three) and a list of qualifications to the AIA Ohio Valley Region, by February 21, 2017.
