The American Institute of Architects Elevates Ruth Gless to the College of Fellows

AIA Fellowship Recognizes Significant Contributions to the Profession of Architecture and Society

The 2016 Jury of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) elevated Ruth Gless to its prestigious College of Fellows, an honor awarded to members who have made significant contributions to the profession. Ruth Gless, FAIA will be honored at an investiture ceremony at the 2016 National AIA Convention in Philadelphia. The Fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession.  Election to fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of architects as individuals, but also their significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level.

gless ruthm      Congratulations to the 2016 AIA Columbus
elevated Fellow, Ruth M. Gless, FAIA!

Out of a total AIA membership of nearly 88,000, there are fewer than 3,100 distinguished with the honor of fellowship and honorary fellowship. Recipients are selected for making significant contributions to architecture and their communities, as well as for achieving a standard of excellence in their profession.

Gless’s passion for teaching, grounded in her earlier career as a classroom teacher, is a pervasive theme of her professional life. Architectural practice is her vehicle for educating professionals, the community, and clients. Through practice Gless has created professional development programs for young architects; she has created public outreach programs that have elevated the public’s awareness of architecture’s importance; and she has taught clients to consider the impact of architecture on the community and the larger environment.

AIA Columbus now has 17 Fellows. See the full list of AIA Columbus Fellows, here.
