The AIA Columbus Chapter's annual Architecture Awards Program recognizes excellence in architectural design by Columbus architects, architectural students and those within the boundaries of the AIA Columbus Chapter. The program's purpose is to recognize the achievements for a broad range of architectural activity in order to elevate the general quality of architectural practice, establish a standard of excellence against which all architects and students can measure performance, inform the public of the breadth and value of architectural practice, and to honor the architects, students, clients, and consultants who work together to improve the built environment. Categories Large Project (5,000 sf and over) The Large Project Category is for projects 5,000 square feet and over. It recognizes design excellence for completed architecture executed in projects 5,000 square feet and over, of all types of buildings, restoration, preservation, and adaptive re-use. Small Project (less than 5,000 sf) The Small Project Category is for projects less than 5,000 square feet. It recognizes design excellence for completed architecture executed in projects less than 5,000 square feet, of all types of buildings, restoration, preservation, and adaptive re-use. Unbuilt Work Unbuilt Work recognizes design excellence in projects scheduled to be built, as well as those that will never be built. Drink and Draw Presented by Diversity x Design
Come draw with us at Dodge Park! With breathtaking views of the river and city skyline, the community park provides 16 acres of recreation space in the citys oldest neighborhood of Franklinton. Revitalization and development projects can be found at every turn, so get inspired to sketch what you see, or envision what could be for our booming city.
Don't forget to bring your sketchbooks! Patrons are invited to sketch after the following basic instruction by Ruth Gless, FAIA, and Aimee Moore. All sketches will be auctioned off to benefit Camp Architecture at the Center for Architecture and Design's Orange Line Exhibit Opening Reception in December.
Follow us at Brewdog Franklinton following the event for a beer with us while you put the finishing touches on your sketches. First round of drinks provided by AIA Columbus.

AIA Ohio is honored to recognize Ruth M. Gless, FAIA with an AIA Ohio Mentor Award this year.
As a creator of firm culture and a leader of professional and community advocacy organizations, Ruth M. Gless, FAIA, has always taught and mentored the community, clients, emerging architects, and fellow professionals. Ruth has been a teacher, a firm leader, a community advocate, and a mentor. Her passion for teaching and mentoring, grounded in her earlier career as a classroom teacher, has been the guiding theme of her entire professional life. She has educated community leaders, clients, and fellow professionals. She has created public outreach programs that have elevated the public’s awareness of the importance of architecture; she has taught clients to consider the impact of architecture on the community and the larger environment; and she has created mentoring and professional development programs for both young architects and seasoned professionals.
Ruth Gless is a tireless mentor. She brings an enormous amount of energy and dedication to all that she does. As Ruth says, “Once you’ve been a teacher, you can’t not teach. You’re a teacher for your whole life.” For almost forty years, Ruth Gless has been a teacher, a leader, an advocate—and, in all of those roles, a mentor. At this stage in her career, mentorship is the thing that most matters to her. Helping architects to reach their full potential is the reward, and the obligation, of a work life well lived.
Congratulations!
