AEC Roundtable Event
As part of the on-going effort to ignite the enthusiasm and creativity in our community, the AIA Columbus Technology in Architectural Practice (TAP) Knowledge Community is hosting an 'AEC Roundtable Event' on Thursday, September 17th from 4:00 - 6:00 pm.
This event brings together subject matter experts from accross the AEC industry to directly answer your questions on a host of key topics.
Table Subjects:
David is a licensed architect with 24 years of experience in architecture. He has been a Revit user and BIM advocate since 2003 and is a Revit Architecture Certified Professional. David is currently Stantec’s Corporate BIM Leader overseeing the firm-wide practice integration of BIM through training and education, development of best practices, project management support, multi-discipline BIM collaboration, and performance based design integration. He is a leader in helping Stantec transition from a document based design process to an intelligent model based design process. In addition to his experience as a BIM implementer, David has a strong background in architectural project management and project BIM management. His strengths include client interface, BIM planning, project cost control, overall project coordination, and schedule management. Throughout his career he has been responsible for a range of responsibilities from complete project design, documentation and management of smaller projects, to project management and coordination of large, complex projects.
Jordan Mussett, Associate AIA is an Application Expert at IMAGINiT. Using his knowledge from time spent as a BIM Manager and designer in the architectural industry, Jordan provides IMAGINiT clients with information and assistance to get the most from their design automation programs. He provides training, mentoring, technical support, informational presentations and consultations.
NBBJ - Dan Tartaglia, Associate
Dan has over 20 years of experience in project collaboration, design process and product development. While he currently leads NBBJ’s Application Development team, focusing on creating new tools to increase efficiency and productivity his deep and broad expertise in collaboration methodologies, application creation and deployment make him an ideal choice for this event.
Todd Butler has been working with the AEC industry for 30 years. His fascination with Building Information Modeling began as he developed business for SHP Leading Design in the higher education market. He used SHP’s expertise in BIM to sidestep his competitors. He was very involved in the development of BIM Standards for Indiana University, The Ohio State University, University of Cincinnati and CENTCOM. Prior to joining Advanced Solutions in May 2013, he worked for Autodesk as the Ohio Territory Sales Executive.
Alex R. Belkofer, CM-BIM, Virtual Construction Manager Alex brings a diverse background of experience and knowledge within the A/E/C industry to Messer Construction’s Operations Technology Services group. Alex utilizes his expertise from both the architectural and building construction sides of the industry to thoroughly understand the entire scope of construction projects while coordinating effective project management. With 10 years of client management and customer service experience, Alex creates a seemless and efficient communication process with Owners, Consultants, and Design Team members alike. Alex strives for innovative and practical construction management strategies to ensure that all managerial aspects are coordinated with the client’s best interests in mind.
Alex has held various roles including Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Superintendent, and Owner's Representative throughout his 6 years of full-time construction operations experience. Presently, Alex is part of a six person Virtual Construction Team responsible for the immplementation, coordination and management of Messer’s Building Information Modeling (BIM) best practices company-wide. From corporate office to construction site, the VCTeam promotes, trains and guides Messer Project Teams through the BIM process over the course of a building’s construction lifecycle. Alex also works closely with Project Executives, Project Managers, Owners, and A/E partners to establish early expectations and project deliverables at each phase of a project.
James L. Salmon, Esq. is President of Collaborative Construction, a co-founder of FirstPlan, LLC, co-creator of the Golden Rule Alliance, a BIM & IPD Consultant for Benjamin Yocum & Heather, LLC and an Adjunct Instructor of the masters level BIM Strategy course offered by Middlesex University out of London. James advocates use of integrated project delivery (IPD) and building information modeling (BIM), and relishes the challenge of replacing the built industry’s broken culture with a smart built culture. James works with clients to modify existing legal frameworks to ensure support for the vision, skills, incentives, resources and actions required to achieve the changes required to adopt, adapt to and deploy a smart built culture throughout the built industry. In addition to providing BIM & IPD consulting services – and helping to create a smart built culture in which to deploy those tools and processes – teaching about the cultural and legal implications of BIM and IPD locally, nationally and internationally and consulting for AECO professionals throughout the US, James edits various BIM and IPD related journals, articles and blogs, publishes the Collaborative Construction Blog and manages the 4,000 + member LinkedIn group, Collaborative BIM Advocates, which now serves as a portal to the Golden Rule Alliance.
The Wild Card table presents an opportunity for questions on any subject matter.
Format:
Multiple tables will be arranged with each lead by an industry recognized subject matter expert. While we've selected subjects to cover a wide range of potential topics, please don't be concerned if the questions you have don't relate to one of the subjects listed as we'll also have a 'wild card' table hosted by a team of experts where you'll be encouraged to share any questions.
